Any form of walking burns calories. When you burn calories, you can lose weight. It's better to brisk walk than do a leisurely walk. Brisk walking burns more calories. It is considered a moderate-intensity "cardio" or aerobic activity.

Do you burn body fats or not? Why don't give it a try? Measure your body fat percentage (BFP) today as your baseline. Have a one-hour leisurely walk. Measure your BFP again. Do this everyday for one week. Measure your BFP. Next, brisk walk for 30 minutes per day for one week. Measure your BFP. Compare your results. Maintain your diet during your test period for the results to be more reliable and conclusive for you.

Whatever the results, remember that both are healthy for you.

PS: There are digital weighing scales that gives you your BFP. BFP is a better measure than BMI and waist-hip ratio although all these are useful.
